My Bio

  • "Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly, I can!'
Then get busy and find out how to do it."

    Theodore Roosevelt

Terri Mitchell is best described as an "all-rounder".

With a passion for writing stories from the age of 13 (most memorable about a 'thinking' shark capable of analysis), Terri took a while to find her calling as a professional copywriter .

  • About Terri Mitchell
  • As a teenager, Terri's first part time job was a kitchen-hand at a local restaurant. Soon after, she left school just as the pressure of final year (year 12 in Australia) began to build, and gained employment as an apprentice in the trade of cooking.
  • Four years later with her Trade Certificate completed, a restless Terri realised that cooking wasn't for her. (Her mum was just pleased that her daughter always had her trade to fall back on).
  • With a few more years spent cooking, Terri returned to study and finished her final year 12 in high school with surprisingly good grades after all those years out of school.
  • It was then that Terri was inspired to become a Psychiatric Nurse - which required another 3 years of university and practical nurse experience.
  • The restlessness was never far away, and after another 12 months working in the very challenging field of psychiatric nursing where she worked one-on-one with patients at high risk of self-harm, Terri moved from country Victoria to Sydney, some 1000km away, to take on a corporate role in insurance.
  • From insurance selling, to claims assessing in Income Protection, Terri was exceptionally good at identifying fraudulent claimants and closing claims, saving over AU$1M for her employer.
  • Some personal challenges made it essential for Terri to leave the industry and re-group - and it was during this extremely difficult time that the internet (which had been coming of age in the public arena) captured Terri's interest, attention and eventually her desire to work within the field of copywriting and marketing.
  • That was over 5 years ago, and Terri has never looked back.
  • She has been an avid student since, studying direct response copywriting through AWAI, self-learning by reading, attending seminars, listening to webinar calls... and more reading.
  • Her client list has impressed even Terri, and she recognises the Internet as being the most valuable business tool available today.
  • Personally, Terri has been active in exploring the boundaries of thinking and belief systems. She has read books, attended seminars (including Money and You in San Diego in 2008), and undertook Tony Robbins' "Unleash the Power Within" Hot Coals walk which profoundly changed her life.

She aims to become a Fire Walk Teacher through Tolly Burken, the same teacher Tony Robbins learned through, located in the U.S.

Because of my vocational background - first as a chef where I studied nutrition and food, then as a nurse where I studied psychology and sociology, anatomy and physiology, drugs and medication, and then in the insurance claims field for Disability based claims, I'm not only very confident with jargon, I am exceptionally capable of making even the most boring material engaging and inviting to the reader.

I'm naturally passionate. My love for the written word enables me to use both my creative expression and my intuitive, highly analytical/critical competencies, and my knowledge of people through my nursing and psychology studies to create persuasive copy at any level for any industry.
